The numerous food establishments that line Lilac Street within Marikina was one of the highlights for foodies. With entrepreneurs realizing its potential for the food industry, numerous restaurants have come and gone hoping to get a shot at establishing themselves along this street. However, among the interchanging brands of restaurants stood several stores that have remained strong throughout the years.
Pink Chiffon has been one of the longest standing sweet shops along Lilac. Their unique array of cakes at huge sizes makes it much cheaper than buying from commercial brands. Their chocolate cake in particular has also been one of the richest ones we’ve had so far. They also have a wide array of mouses for those that prefer those kinds of sweets. Like any bakery, Pink Chiffon also has its own cookies and biscuits that customers can buy as a snack or as a dessert! They don’t ust have sweets either, they also have some savory dishes that could also be bought as takeout pans for your next house party! Recently, they’ve also been taking on orders for custom cakes and cupcakes incase you ever need one for an incoming event! (Images from Pink Chiffon’s FB Page)

Despite being a small restaurant among others, Burrito Brothers remains strong as one of the established restaurants. Its almost rare to not see anyone queued up in line when passing along this restaurant. As the name implies, Burrito Brothers is all about that Mexican food. But their “brotherhood” expands much farther. The people behind this restaurant have also expanded to other kinds of food such as all-day breakfast and kebabs which you can also order from this establishment! Relatively new among the others, but still a strong contender nonetheless. Dapo at Tisa offers the all too familiar Filipino cuisine we all enjoy in our homes. Easily makes it one of the most popular places along Lilac most especially at Sundays during lunch. Nothing is as great as eating comfort food made from Dapo at Tisa (Images from Dapo at Tisa’s FB page)

Miguel & Maria started strong among the street when it first opened back in 2016. With its sophisticated look and fusion of an Italian and American menu, the people were enticed by the new contender. Miguel & Maria always had long queues every night when it first opened and for good reason too! Their food has been nothing but deserving of a chef’s kiss. Because of how quick they gained popularity, they were able to open a bigger branch along Gil Fernando Avenue. (Images from Miguel & Maria’s FB page)

One of (maybe even the first?) the first cafés found along the Lilac food strip. They serve food similar to that of a typical café. Their menu mainly offers pastas, salads, sandwiches, and even breakfast meals. However, ever since the pandemic started, they now also offer food trays that include items not in their regular menu. And on the café side of things, customers can also order coffee, milkshakes, and even tea to enjoy along with their choice of cake made by the café itself. (Images from Forget Me Not FB page)
