A juncture of different Asian cultures, Malaysia is one of the most diverse countries in the world.
Kuala Lumpur
It's been ten years since I was last in KL!
Good location, colonial style hotel with beautiful architecture. Big comfortable rooms. Breakfast has a good selection, though stick to the Malay and Indian options rather than Western. The doorman looks like something out of Jumanji.

KL bird park. The largest outdoor aviary in the world! Lots of colorful cranes, parrots and hornbills. Very stroller friendly.
KL Bird Park, 920, Jalan Cenderawasih, Tasik Perdana, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Still very high ;) Very hazy so decided not to climb to the top, but iconic views from the fountains at the bottom.
Menara Berkembar Petronas, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Good place for souvenir shopping in a nice restored Art Deco building. Get your batik, magnets, postcards etc here. Lots of little food stalls mixed in with the crafts and art.
Kasturi Walk @, Central Market, City Centre, 50050 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
I’m a sucker for anywhere with maps on the wall. Good meeting spot to meet other travelers, simple food and drinks near Central market.

One thing I miss from when I used to live in South India is "meals" or thali, the combination dishes of vegetable curries. MTR is an offshoot of a Bangalore eatery than has been serving these up since 1924. It's located in the Brickfields neighbourhood which is a great place to find Indian food.
