I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Commune and oh boy, it didn’t disappoint. Aside from it’s famous selection of lattes, it flies the rainbow flag. And it’s firm on its message that everyone from all walks of life are welcome.

I always pass by Commune when i go to Rockwell and it always catches my attention because the interior and setup looks so nice. So one time i tried working here over coffee and the vibe is just great. Plus it carries the rainbow flag, promoting that its a safe space for everyone 🌈

Commune is a gem of a café in this lively part of Makati – tucked in the middle of Rockwell and the vicinity of Ayala Avenue. The café, which champions Philippine coffee, is famous for its three-dimensional lattes and its pair of resident cats. However, it also flies the rainbow flag – a message that in this space, where everyone and everything is welcome. It’s also a venue for talks and other events (such as improv shows). Sometimes, these concern the LGBTQ+ community, so it’s particularly busy and buzzing during Pride Month.

Legit local coffee and good lunch menu. Ask for The Pageman (dirty toddy) from the owner Ros when you’re there on weekends

Aside from really good coffee, Commune has the best 3D latte art. So cute! 🥰

At night, Poblacion is alive and buzzing. If you're one of those people who would rather drink coffee on a Friday night, Commune is for you.

Here’s a little secret: Commune Coffee+Bar dishes out a mean off-the-menu sisig! Perfect for non-meat eaters, the cafe uses bangus (“bah-ngoos,” Philippine milkfish) in lieu of pork. The delicious twist is a break from the typically pig-centric fare, yet provides the same satisfaction—or dare we say it, it may even be better!

This place wins in the interior category. It easily sets the rustic vibe to your day, sun up or sun down. We had the Carbonara and Tripple Tomato Cream pasta and filled our tummies more with Reese’s Choco Peanut Butter Frappe and Iced Matcha Latte as drinks. Their Carbonara has the right kind of creamy although I’m more used to Linguine as its pasta than the one they used. The garlic bread and all the other ingredients on my plate is warm and hearty! The Tripple Tomato Pasta would have been more impressive with a touch of spiciness, but overall it was good and filling. The drinks were fine, we just wished they had better paper straws cos it felt like it was getting softer the longer you use it for your drink. We’ll definitely come back here to try all the other entrèes and ooh la la, the pastries! 🧁

As the name goes, a cafe in a burrow. If you’re looking for a place that’s rustic, airy, fresco, and of course, aesthetic, then head to Burrow Cafe. This place takes rustic mornings to the next level. The cafe itself is located below the entrance. From the parking, you will descend 95 steps (trust me it’s worth it!). Food and ambiance is superb, a bit pricey but definitely worth it because of the quality. And of course, definitely an Instagrammable place! 🍃🌿🪵
